THE PROCESS OF THE BLOOD CLOTTING

THE PROCESS OF THE BLOOD CLOTTING

  1. Whenever an injury occurs, the thrombocytes (platelets) move to that site and secrete thromboplastin.
  2. This thromboplastin is responsible for the synthesis of an enzyme named thrombokinase through a series of reactions known as cascade process.
  3. Now the thrombokinase converts the prothrombin ( already present) into thrombin with the help of calcium ions.
  4. The thrombin then converts the soluble fibrinogen into soluble Fibrin.
  5. Finally this fibrin along with the blood cells forms the Blood clot. (With the help of clotting Factor 8).
